Prince Albert and the Lionheart

Rag Morris Mummers performed a new traditional mummers' play around Christmas 2010 entitled Prince Albert and the Lionheart. With two evening performances at Bristol Zoo on the 20th and 21st December, and some special preview performances in Clifton on Saturday 18th December. Photo's from these Christmas performances can be seen in our gallery.

The performances at Bristol Zoo were part of their Fantabulous Christmas evenings.

The play itself was a result of a strange hybridisation experiment, mixing a traditional folk play script with elements from Marriott Edgar's classic monologue, to create a unique seasonal mummers' play with a Zoo-themed twist - Queen Victoria was Not Amused.

This play was bought back once more for an on stage performance at the 2012 Bristol Folk Festival. Photo's of our performance can be seen here.
